Supported training placements
Opportunities to learn new skills
We offer the opportunity to learn new skills with guidance from trained support workers. These supported training placements are designed for people who have disabilities or additional needs which require adjustments and patience while they are training. Needs can include sensory limitations, learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, depression and anxiety. We are an inclusive team and welcome people from all backgrounds with diverse needs. We tailor our support accordingly.
We offer a safe accessible space in which people can learn skills in hospitality, cheffing, animal care, admin and more. Success is measured differently for everyone, with some progressing from non-verbal to speaking, and others having secured paid work in these fields, something they and their loved ones had never thought possible until the growth experienced from working within our team.

In partnership with Michael's House & The Skills Network
To enhance our placement’s recognition and employability results, we are in partnership with Michael’s House and The Skills Network to offer our supported trainees a variety of AQA qualifications at different levels. We also support them to achieve their Level 1, 2 & 3 Food Hygiene Safety Certificates. Aside from official qualifications and skills, we foster a sense of belonging and confidence, allowing people to come out of their shell and build relationships. Trainees gain numerous transferable life skills as well as happiness and joy.
Safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of our placements. Pause Charity has all the relevant insurance, health and safety, risk assessments, safeguarding training, procedures and qualifications to take the best care of everyone. We have a lot of experience working with vulnerable individuals and ensuring everyone on the team feels comfortable and relaxed.

Lauren's Experience
Lauren is a wheelchair user who is great with people. Lauren trained as a host welcoming guests to Pause Cat Cafe, explaining to them how to interact with the cats safely and managing bookings. Lauren quickly became a valued member of the team. Her placement enabled her to gain experience in a working environment and enhance her I.T. skills using the online booking system and till.
