About Pause Charity

Pause Charity was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the Charity Commission of England and Wales on 14th February 2024.

Nurturing bonds between people, animals & our planet

We exist to  nurture bonds between people, animals, and our planet. To accomplish this, we have a set of clear objectives, or ‘Objects’.  Our official charitable Objects, for the benefit of the public are:

People

To assist in the treatment and care of persons suffering from mental or physical illness of any description or in need of rehabilitation as a result of such illness, through animal-assisted therapy.

Animals

To promote humane behaviour towards animals by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for animals which need care and attention because of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage and to educate the public in matters of animal welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among animals.

Planet

To promote conservation protection and the improvement of the physical and natural environment for the benefit of the public.

We are founded on the concept that working together can make our world a better place. We support other registered charities with charitable purposes the same as or similar to those of our own, by making grants, promoting their work, volunteering and engaging in joint projects.

Diversity and inclusion are paramount to us

Our People

We have 8 trustees, who are all passionate advocates for our cause. They are Ben, Jaya, Judi, Karen, Martin,

Matt, Robin and Sue. They are a diverse group with a range of backgrounds, interests and skills, including management, charity, IT, education, safeguarding and animal care. We are so grateful for their support.

We are powered by around 50 regular volunteers who help in a range of ways and without whom, we wouldn’t be able to do the fantastic work we do. We have a small but dedicated team of 8 paid part-time staff.

Our Priorities

Diversity and inclusion are paramount to us. Our people and animals have a range of

backgrounds, and everyone is celebrated for their uniqueness. Staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, visitors and animals are treated with equal respect and gratitude for their role in making Pause as magical as it is.

We care for all by prioritising safeguarding, training, effective procedures and policies so that our team (human and animal) remain happy and secure.
